I have a 18" 7 WSM.  Around 2570 with 180's
I am running around 2850 with the LRM with 180's.
I would lose around 120fps by taking it to a 18" or 2730 fps.

But your 7LRM has 3.75" longer bbl, does it not?
At same bbl lengths, wouldn't velocity be very close?

I figure about 30 fps per inc.
So lets say 4"= -120 fps
2850-120=2730 MV for a 18" barrel 7 LRM

Ah, o.k., I misunderstood your previous post and thought you were comparing velocities solely between 7WSM @ 18" and 7 LRM @ 21.75" without the shorter bbl comparison on 7LRM.

Didn't realize you couldn't coax the 7 WSM to the 2800 range with 21.75" bbl.

Nevermind... I see you're running 180's.

I'm a bit slow today.

Chronoed this morning.  My lot of H-1000 is faster burning than the one Gunwerks is currently using.
MV of 2895.
With a 100 yard zero, drop at 1000 is 23.25 MOA.

Some pics of confirming drops this past Thursday.
Here is 400 yards.  The 7 LRM pretty much wiped out the dot I had painted for a aiming point.  This was in the afternoon (second time confirming drops).
The smaller hit at 11:30 is from Darrell's AR-15.  Darrell was my partner for the WTRC this past weekend:

Then here is at 1000 yards.  We were confirming drops in the morning in this pic.
These are the last four shots at 1K:

Then we went back out and shot out to 1K again.
Had some small tweeking to do, but it was shooting very good.

This past Friday-Sunday Darrell and I competed together as a team again for a second time.
Having never competed together before we had some hiccups.  This year those problems were all but gone.
There were some new teams this year too and it seemed most teams had raised the bar in terms of skill.
We took second place. Third was a good 900 points behind us, and we were behind 1st by about 550 points after the four field courses.
A local team took first this year.  They are both great guys and great field shooters.
The biggest and most costly point wise for us, was that my barrel was to thin and when I had to shoot long strings of 14+ shots at distance in heat, accuracy went down.  That will be fixed for sure!  We already knew that this was likely going to be a problem.  But we went with what we had.
The other hitch was that my brake came loose during the end of course 4 (long range again of course).  Again a issue that will be easily solved.
Plan on using the 7 LRM again next year.  My Glock 17 with the Leupold DeltaPoint did great out to 60+ yards.
Darrell and I had a great time together and we enjoyed renewing friendships from years past.   It is a great group of guys.
We need to get a couple of OPTICSTALK teams to come out and play.
You will have a lot of fun and meet a lot of great people.

Congratulations to both you and Darrell!  I'm sure impressed with how well you did with the new toy!  Second place and only the second time you teamed with Darrell is excellent!  Makes me wonder if you'd have taken 1st if you didn't have the equipment issues...

How do they score that there was such a large spread in points between 1, 2 and 3rd place?  550 and 900 points seems huge..

Wish I lived a tad closer than the East Coast so I could give it a try!

Points can add up quickly in the LR targets.
Every miss takes away points as well.
Make sure you read the bottom part of the rules:

We would love to have you come.
You will need to find a partner to compete though.
Or, you could come and work as a range officer (RO) and get an idea of what it is all about.

Here are some pics for you.  Thanks to Ken Stoecklin (Bear Tooth Photography) from Casper who took all of these pictures!  Maybe we can get Ken a partner and have him shooting more than pictures in the future :)
