I'm a 3-Gun shooter & thinking about getting the Vortex Viper pck w/ the

SWFA SS AR Tactical Mounts... now the one review says it seems high enough to clear the front sight... does anyone know if it will? I'm mounting it on a Spikes upper w/ standard M4 config. flat top w/ an A2 front sight... I need to know if it infact clears the field of view... If anyone know for sure can you let me know? Thanks Capt J

No. I know of no ar mounts that would put u high enough to not see the a2 front sight. If they did, they would be way to high to use. Most people just deal with it being there or buy a fold down sight.
Lifetime warranty and excellent customer service don't mean a thing when your gun fails during a zombie attack.

An excellent comment, as usual.

I like having a front sight on my defensive use AR. If I were to have a hunting or precision shooting AR, I'd probably get a fold down front sight, as ST referred to.

I shoot out too 420+ I can't have the post blocking my optic... I'm mounting it on a Spikes upper w/ standard M4 config. flat top w/ A2 front gas block sight. Once again, no. You will see the fromt sight. On 1x you will see the front sight an even the end of your barrel. When u hit about 3x the scope will start to focus past the front sight and it will become a slight black blur in your scope

Agreed: live with it (as I do on most of my ARs with magnifying optics) or get a old down.

Here is a pic.  That is a SWFA Bobro mount, their other mount is similar in height.

+1 on the flip down front. I shoot 3 gun as well. I would say better than a flip down front though, I would do a low profile gas block so I can get a longer hand guard. Then I would do the 45 degree offset rails and some flip up sights. I would sight them in very close like 10 yards or so, that way mechanical offset is minimized. That way it is a fast rotation between irons and optics, or if you know you have a couple of close shots and then long shots you can set your scope for higher power at first of stage.

Yeah, "super tool" is right, you often find your scope will pick up your foresight as a slightly blurred image but it does not distract if you are shooting 100 yards or more. At Longer distances it disappears as the field is reduced with higher magnification.

Not conversant with the AR, can you detach the fore sight, as this would be the simple answer.
