Just got one late yesterday. Great engineering and quality. Even the 1" inserts are aluminum. I was expecting plastic.

I also got one, and I am with the others. Really cool, and it doesn't get hung up on a scabbard.

Life's concerns should be about the 120lb pack your trying to get to the top of the mountain, and not the rock in your boot.

Old topic, but here goes:
While ordering 1 as it was on sale I figured I'd order three, just finished installing them.
The Level is pretty nice, the offset bubble allows you to mount in several ways, above or below the scope center. Being a lefty, and with it not interfering with the action and other "controls" I mounted forward of the turrets, it sits perfectly at 2:00 to the elevation and windage turrets. Using both eyes open, it "superimposes" itself perfectly when looking through the optic. Doesn't seem too big, too small, or sticks out too much. "Goldilocks" could appreciate the form and fit.
There are no lines, which like the OP. The gap of which the level is seen through is smaller than most, less stuff to catch your eye. The vial is loose, it rotates so there is no glue or epoxy and such, and is secured in by a snap ring. It is secured by 2 torx type bolts, torx head wrench provided. It comes with 1" aluminum inserts, not poly! The body is somewhat thin, which leaves a bunch of options to mount it between rings, adjustment housings, and bells without taking up too much room.
On my one rifles, I was worried about clearance between the bottom of the scope and the rail, which I only had 1/4". The level cleared this perfectly, leaving approximately a 1/8" gap between the bottom of the bubble ring (vial being up). Low clearance shouldn't be an issue for most.
After mounting 1 on a .308 and one on a .243, 40 rounds through each, the level stayed put, stayed true (when compared to a plum line). The Third was mounted on a 1" scope with the inserts and is rock solid.
Thumbs up on the SWFA 30mm Level, regular price or on sale. |
