I have a 10/22 and just ordered a 6-18x40 AO vx-II for it. I need to know if the leupold std low rings will work. Leupold claims they will, BUT, this gun will get a heavy .920" barrel soon and I am not sure if the stock tapper is taken into account when they said the low will work. Will the low rings still be ok when the barrel is switched?

i doubt the low rings will work with a heavy barrel, while i have not had experience with a 10/22, i doubt that taper will let you use lows. on my 700 lss in 300 ultra mag, i have the lows rings, and a vxIII 4.5-14x40, the 2003 model, with the adj obj, and it is so low on the barrel, you can hardly see light through it, and it has a spoter barrel, with a pretty good taper to it, so i would recommend the mediums.

I have a 10/22 my self with the heavy barrel. I put a Simmons 6.5-20x44 on it with med rings. I tried the lows first, but the objective was sitting on my barrel. The mediums just clear it now. I still had to grind down some of the plastic on my butler creek flips to get them on...it was that close.. The safe bet would be to get the mediums.
They may be a tad bit high on the sporter barrel but if you plan to change barrels go with the mediums.
