Looking for a nice pair of binoculars for sporting events such as baseball games, hockey, etc.

Should be weather sealed cause I will leave them in my car sometimes in the winter time.
Should be compact.
Doesn't need to have a super high zoom.

Let me know if you have a couple of suggestions?

Chris

I prefer Porro prism binoculars especially those made in Japan. (i.e. Minox BD 10x44 BP) 8>)

For stadium use, a 6x or 6.5x works extremely well.  Certainly better than 8x or 10x.  One reason is that a good 6x30 has a very wide field of view, which makes it much easier to track the action as it moves from place to place.  You also get a much deeper depth of field, which means you will not have to re-focus as much as the action moves towards or away from you.

Take a look at the Leupold 6x30 Yosemite, or the Vortex Raptor 6.5x30.  Both are some of the best choices you can get for sports use, and you can get them for just under $100 in the case of the Leupy, or a bit over $120 for the Vortex.  Kowa also makes one of these too, but the L and the V are easier to find, and come from companies that have excellent customer service.  Any of these will have much wider, sharper, and brighter view than something like an 8x25.

Meopta also makes a very nice 6.5x too, but these have recently been discontinued.  Still might be worth trying to locate one, if you have to have a roof-prism bino.

I have about 2 dozen pairs of binoculars, some of them quite expensive.  The ones I take to college football and baseball games is the Leupold 6x30 Yosemite........
