Ok I have looked read reviews tryed looking through scopes but no stores are open late enough to look through and c what im looking for I need a scope that works in a very very low light conditions I hunt in a swamp with hardly no opening but I have around a five hundred to a grand to spend my longest distance is about 150 2 200 yards at the most and I also have hogs but I want to be able to take a shoot at them if they are there when legal shooting time is over but don't want a night vision scope so im not sure what to even consider looking at for this thanks for reading and any suggestions would definitely help me

I hunt similar conditions and go with either a 1-4X or even a red dot (no magnification, reflex sight.) What is it going on, bolt gun or AR?
Hogs move fast, I like red dots on my hog guns, the damned things seem to know when being glassed, and they move just enough to lose in a scope. Red dot is both eyes open, no issues with field of view. A 1-4X will give you a bit more confidence at the outer edges of your stated ranges.

Be aware that a 3-9X (which is a good all-around range), even at 3X, doesn't offer much fiew of view for a 25 yard shot.
For older eyes, the 3-9 is a decent option, I have the 3-9 with amber triangle on a 308 and it works quite well. It isn't great for really close up, but will easily work out to 200 yards.

Meopta Meostar has a 1.5-6x that might be a good fit.
It is $1100 though. http://swfa.com/Meopta-15-6x42-MeoStar-R1-30mm-Rifle-Scope-P53612.aspx There is also the Leupold VX-R 2-7x http://swfa.com/Leupold-2-7x33-VX-R-30mm-Riflescope-P48033.aspx |

I hunt same conditions and use the following:
AR .223 and 6.8 have 1-4 and 2-7 on them My bolt actions have 3-9 and 4.5-14 (range setup for fun)on them. 2-7, 3-9, & 2.5-10 would be great choices. I am a huge fan of Leupold's VXR |

See'ins how your at least good natured (not so common these days),,,I'll make a suggestion :
Weaver Super Slam 2-10x42. I've also been looking at 1-10 power scopes. A good one would be pricey. However , Firefield offers a 1-10, that may be in your budget and SWFA carries Firefield, but I don't see the 1-10 listed.

I guess the scopes after all are not the end all solution. Those laser pointers may come in handy with hog hunts. |

Especially the IR pointers, then hogs don't even know how close the end really is!

ALL those danged 1-8 scopes are ridiculously over priced if you ask me. The one that I can recall is the Leupold MK 8 1-8x24. I think it's listed somewhere close to 4K. A good fixed power 6X scope will let you see as well as anything other than NV. Leupold's VX3 6X42 is a great scope. Very forgiving eye box, not much to break to become "unadjusted" at just the wrong time...
Meopta has a Meopro 6X that I see a lot of guys converting to from the Leupold 6X. |
