Are there any red dot scope options for a 50 cal handgun (510 GNR)? Or should I go with a conventional pistol scope? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Trijicon RMR, great site, if your eyes are close to good.
It isn't a magnifying scope.

Welcome to Optics Talk.
I'd look at an Aimpoint Micro. http://swfa.com/Sights-C4217.aspx

Speed. Same reason for having one on a long gun. You just have to line up the dot to the target, not two sights to the target.

I use a burris fastfire II on my Ruger Mk II. Let's me co-witness with the front sight post, and it's fast.
