Actually, it's just supposed to be a woman of the Medieval period walking in the dark with a candle lantern on a cold, dark night, and hears/sees something frightening. Note the rosary she's clutching in her left hand. My aim here was to see if I could compose a simple scene using only the light of a single candle. The role of "Dark Ages woman" was played by my daughter.

That is a well-composed picture.  Did you take any shots with her holding the candle a little further to the right?  That could create some interesting shadows across her face.

Yes, I did. In fact, I had the same thought about working the shadows as you. The problem I had with the shot in general is it was very difficult for her to remain still enough in that pose to keep the image acceptably sharp during the relatively long exposure. Of the dozen or so frames I shot, that one happened to turn out best, but even so, she's a little soft, as even the slightest tiny movement creates some ghosting during a 2-sec exposure. Plus, I liked that this shot showed a hint of the folds on her hood to the left of her face and showed more detail on the rosary beads, and I liked her expression best on this frame. Once my unpaid model got tired of trying to stand rock still for more shots and began complaining about working conditions, I kinda had to call it a night.

I see the rosary now, I couldn't see it on my phone last night.

Since the contest is over I can post this one now. I was torn between the one I posted and this one. Hopefully I made the right choice.

Yeah, I can see how you would not want to get into a major workforce dispute over this.

Do not get me wrong: this is an exceptionally nice shot.  I was just curious whether you tried other angles.

I probably would have introduced some soft background illumination so that you can use shorter exposure and then darken it a touch in post processing if necessary.
