How do the Nikon 1-4x20 (German #4 reticle) and Weaver 1-5x24 (heavy duplex?) compare in optical and mechanical quality and general utility? Which scope would you prefer to use and why?

I've used the Nikon but not the Weaver. I have a chance to acquire a Weaver 1-5x24 for what seems like a very good price (although still more expensive than the Nikon), so I'm wondering if I should.

Weaver is better.  It was originally a higher end scope.

The Weaver Super Slam Euro series are excellent. I don't have the 1-5x Dangerous Game, but do have the 1.5-6x and it is superb.
