Newbie needs help... I'm trying to decide between the Zeiss Conquest Rimfire Rifle Scope 3-9x 40mm and the Leupold VX-2 3-9x33mm Rimfire EFR. I really like the light weight of the Leupold, but I can't find a weight listed anywhere for the Zeiss. I'll be shooting distances of 10 - 100 yds (target plinking and hunting), and I'm not sure how important the EFR feature is. I do know that I have old eyes, and I need good glass. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry folks... Just found the Rimfire sub-forum. If the moderator could move this post, I would be grateful.

I have a Leupold EFR and the glass will not let you down. That particular scope is one of my favorites. I would suggest the standard duplex instead of the fine for your uses. The standard duplex shows up much better in low light and in heavy cover.
I cannot comment on the Zeiss scope.

Thanks very much for your help and advice. Leupold has always worked for me, but I was tempted by that Zeiss scope. I'll stick with what works. Thanks again.

Good choice. I have the Leupold 3-9EFR as well and I love it.

Uh Oh... now what? A third choice has entered the mix. I was just about ready to buy the Leupold, and then I came across reviews on the Weaver RV-9. Comparable features and good glass at $100+ less than the Leupold. The more I read, the more I like this scope. It'd be nice to be able to compare these side by side.

I don't think you'd be disappointed in it as the reviews at rimfirecentral are overwhelmingly positive. You will not be disappointed in the Leupold. The new Nikon Prostaff scope is okay, but definitely not in the league of the Leupold.
I have a competitor scope that I am not happy with. I'm going to return it to them for repair or replacement. The Weaver will save you some money. You will not find a better rimfire scope than the Leupold. You pays your money and takes your choice. EJ |

Folks ain't got a sense of humor no more. They don't laugh they just get sore.
Need to follow the rules. Just hard to determine which set of rules to follow Now the rules have changed again. |

I've done very little testing among dedicated rimfire scopes, but I sure like my Waever 2-7x "for the money".
I'm fairly sure the Leupolds would beat it, but it serves me well.

If at first you don't secede...try..try again.
