This is a pre-64 Winchester model 88 for sale. Has been rebarreled in 6.5x284 . Still have the original 308 barrel for those who might want to go that route. Barrel is a Douglas air-guaged supreme tastefully done by McCollough Rifle Co in Selma. Has Browning style recessed crown.
Rifle will come with brass, and dies for reloading.
All metal is excellent with one small scratch near end of barrel. Wood is in great condition with " character", but no ugly marks.
Willing to FTF, or ship on your dime. Make sure your FFL will accept from private individual.
Prices are firm - $1000 without scope or $1500 with the German Seeadler Optik 3-9x60 with 30mm tube and #4 reticle as shown in pics.
Only reason for selling is the Kids show no interest in reloading, and I want to replace with a rifle they can go in a store to buy ammo for.
May be willing to take a wood-stocked Ruger mini 30 as partial trade for now.

Sweet rifle. If it was the semi auto version i would be all over it.
Lifetime warranty and excellent customer service don't mean a thing when your gun fails during a zombie attack.

Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin Funny you mention that. The last time I hunted with this rig ( 5 or 6 yrs ago ), a pair of hogs lined up side-by-side apprx 100 yds out. A single 120 gr Nosler partition did them both in, with the second hog having a hole in his side big enough to but a brick through sideways.Yippee

I should have added, this rifle has only had about 15 rds put through the tube, I loaded a good hunting round for it, but have never experimented with a lot of loads to find out excactly what it is capable of.

Man, I wish I could afford that right now.  Dad has the Model 88 in .243 Win and it's a great shooting rifle.  His friend who left it to him in his will used to use it to dispatch south texas turkeys with head shots at 100yds.

SB, thanks for the comment on Jim McCollough. He really does do great work. This is the second model 88 he has done for me. The 1st is chambered in 250-3000. I ad it done for my son a first rifle. It shoots great, and we can buy ammo for it at most gunshows and a few hardware stores.
DCAMM, I really like this rifle, but as I said above, my kids- while they like to hunt- have shown no interest in learning to reload. I know Norma makes factory rounds for this, but they were expensive last time I looked.
This rifle is one from a small collection of 88's and SAKO Finnwolf's I have. It is also very picky on the load. I had a load made up for it, but some of my data got lost when a hurricane tore up part of my house. I don't have the time myself to experiment, but may have to so if someone buys it, they will want to know up front what works best.
I am up for some offers of trades.
Mini- 30, Colt Delta Elite 10mm, Gold Cup, Browning X-bolt, A-bolt, Remington 700 CDL in 17Remington,
most any SAKO, or a SIG 556R in 762x39.
Try me with other offers.Big GrinBig Grin

I reload, and I wouldn't mind a new cartridge to load up for - I currently load some hard-to-find calibers anyhow:  .376 Steyr, 9.3x62, 7mm WSM, .41 Rem Mag, etc.  The only thing I can offer for trade on your list is a browning A-bolt II in .270.  It's a great rifle, and I personally refinished it and bedded the stock with devcon several years ago.  It's a good shooter.  The refinish wasn't because the stock was damaged - just because I can't stand the browning lacquer finish.  I redid it with Pilkington's for an oil-rubbed finish.  PM me if you're interested.

I also have what may be the only .338 Federal in a take-down BLR in the world.  I had my barrel bored to .338 Federal a few years ago.  It's a great little rifle for hunting dense cover.  Hits like Thor's hammer.  Let me know.
