I have never had a scope with target dot. Im a basic duplex guy.
However, in BR and target shooting - you guys recommend Target Dot?

Some people like the dot…

Weaver T-series, SIghtron Target, and Swift Premier are all within your price range…  Of those, I'm not sure I would have a real preference.  I've been evaluating the Swift 8-32 on a BAR 243.  I'm happy with it so far, but have only about two boxes of shells downrange with it.  So far no major flaws, very "skimpy" on adjustment range.  I've not used a Sightron, but heard good things.  The Weaver, through just some "at the range" plinking of someone else's rifle, seems to be solid.  The T-36 was dead on for all the shooting I did out to 200 yards with a 6mm-284.  It was "too easy"...

I don't particularly care for the target dot for precision shooting… find it sometimes useful illuminated in low light conditions.  Many DO like it and some very fine scope companies offer target dot scopes that are highly prized.  It is just a personal preference with me… crosshair.  I don't really have anything against target dots, but don't seek them out for precision work.
