OK after breaking a few scopes on my 378 Bee I broke down a bought this little beast! I mounted warne Weatherby steel magnum bases (weaver type) and tried to use the Leupold steel QR rings. As you can see the scope is a bit too short for "my" comfort to fit. I am open to suggestions but it needs to be strong and the rings not as wide I guess. Also I can go back to the JR front dovetail style steel Leupolds with steel 30mm rings. So what say you please!!!!! |

I'm not very knowledgeable about Weatherby rifles, but why not use a one piece scope base? You could move the rings closer to the turrets with a one piece base.

First and foremost, awesome scope, great choice. I have the same on a 308 AR and love it.
Next, Talley's would also be my choice for a 2-piece. I favor 1-piece bases for several reasons, but understand that they look a little less traditional than some want. |

Wow! I envy your problems. You might want to take a look @ these, you can get rid of the weaver base, and mount a one piece directly to the rifle. http://swfa.com/30mm-C2604.aspx |

If you're going with 2-pc bases, besides the Talley LW ringmounts, I would also recommend the Leupold "Dual Dovetail" bases and rings (not to be confused with the crappy system with the rear windage screws). The DD mounts are as strong as 2 pc mounts get, which is an asset on a .378 Wby.

I see some good suggestions here and I have used the Leupold Dual Dovetails before and thought they were fine. I have seen some comments about differences in height of the receiver mounting surfaces depending on whether the Weatherby was manufactured in Germany/Japan or the USA and wonder if anyone here has any info on this. I recently looked at the old Redfield bases that I replaced several years ago with the Leupold DD's and saw that they are stamped 700 on them; Rem 700 bases I presume.
