Just bought a Remington 700 chambered in 25 x 06. Exited to get going only find I can't find reloading brass anywhere. Anyone know of a source for 25 x 06?

Worst case scenario is to use 270 brass but I just checked my usual sources and didn't find any 25/06 brass.

Last fall, a friend found the only available online .25-06 brass and bought it from Pat's Reloading, a usually (formerly) reliable source. It was Remington .25-06. DO NOT buy any of that brass, as it is unusable. Remington obviously had a bad metal mix/mfg. defect, as the necks peel apart in layers, with different colors apparent. Pat's pleaded ignorant of the problem and quit taking my friend's calls, leaving him in the lurch, yet still offers the brass on their website.
I've personally become soured on Remington brass, having found that it is now more brittle, or otherwise flawed and is nowhere near as long lived as their brass from decades past. More's the pity, as their brass used to be my go- to flavor. Now, the only Rem brass I have is range brass and even the once- fired stuff is junk. I'd even go so far as to say that Remington's crappy .260 Rem brass was the principal factor which kept that great cartridge from becoming more widely accepted. |
