Because of eye problems, I try to put red dots on all my handguns.  Occassionally I've run into the problem of exceeding the adjustment limits (elevation and windage) of the sight when trying to sight it in.
What do you normally do in this case?  Shims? If you shim the mount, what do you use?  A piece of aluminum from a pop can?

I've used that in the past as a good shim but a good buddy sent me some different thickness copper sheeting that works excellent as well.
