And in other sporting news....Johnny Football checks into rehab and Warren Sapp gets arrested for solicitation of a prostitute....

If at first you don't secede...try..try again.

Not me. The kid is and always has been a party ANIMAL! He has had a bad drinking problem all through college, and Sumlin's staff overlooked it because the kid was phenomenal on the field. He got into trouble for fighting at bars as well. It's pretty well accepted that he missed that day at the Manning QB Academy because he was hung over and overslept. He was frequently spotted in College Station bars, partying his azz off while in college. He was able to get away with it, because he had the uncanny ability to get drunk one night and play lights out the next day. He can't get away with that in the NFL.

I know a bit about his family. JF comes from a very wealthy oil family from Tyler, TX (his mom and dad later moved to Kerrville, where Johnny played his HS ball). Let's just say his family has a very "colorful" history. There have always been rumors of JF's relatives being involved with all sorts of rather questionable business enterprises. I'm sure a lot of the rumors about the Manziels are exaggerated and some outright false, but lets just say the Manziel family doesn't have the best name in east Texas. I don't want to repeat these rumors here, as I don't know for certain whether they are true or not, but I always heard where there's smoke, there's probably some fire. Regardless, JF has always gotten whatever he wanted and escaped serious consequences for his actions because of his family's wealth buying his way out of trouble. In college, he always had smoking hot chicks throwing themselves at him. JF is used to getting what he wants always, and has never had to really pay for his bad decisions.

Even JF's dad basically threw Johnny under the bus when he was in college, saying that he had a drinking problem and that, given excess downtime, he was prone to getting into trouble.

Recently, this image hit the internet, supposedly taken in a Vegas restroom. What is he doing with that dollar bill, and why? Draw your own conclusions.

I've been the biggest apologist for JF's actions as anyone because, let's face it, he did great things on the field at my alma mater and was exciting as hell to watch! If he had been playing for anyone else's team, the fan base would be equally defensive about him, just as the FSU fans were about Jameis Winston. JF was probably the best college football player I've ever seen, but as we've seen from other Heisman winners, that doesn't mean sh** in the NFL. I put on maroon blinders when it came to that guy, refusing to believe the stories about him were true, because I didn't want to believe they were true. Hell, I partied a lot in college, so I would expect nothing else from a 20 year old college kid. If I'd been the starting QB for a major college football program, I probably would've done many of the same things JF did, and I'd take full advantage of my status with the women.

No more excusing his behavior for me. The kid needs to get his life in order and grow up or he'll one day be selling insurance, telling people about the day he won the Heisman.

As a fellow Aggie, I wish him the best and hope and pray he gets his life squared away and has a successful career. I will never forget the amazing things he did while wearing maroon and white. As a man, I hope life kicks him in the azz enough to finally make him realize he isn't bulletproof and his antics aren't funny anymore.

Brother, if I'd had the quality tail thrown at me as he has, you wouldn't have been able to tell me sh**!

Can you imagine? Starting QB + extremely good athlete + Heisman trophy + young single guy in college... man, I would've likely been the dictionary definition of "excess!"

It's easy to criticize him now, but yeah, no telling what I might have done had I been in his shoes at that age.

That being said, it really is time for him to grow up and take some responsibility if he wants to salvage his NFL career. He's got the physical skills, I think. The question is, does he have what it takes between the ears?

Johnny Manziel should be given a lot of respect for not trying, anymore, to hide his weaknesses and trying to correct his personal shortcomings... in the public eye.   He DID step up like a man, say "I have a problem and I'm going to fix it" and made the move, publicly...

I wish him well.  I believe he has the skills and talent to do some extraordinary things in the NFL... I hope he lives up to his potential... It's all on him, now... pass or fail.

At one time the NYT may have meant something... now it is a "rag", just like most print media.

Yes, I know she was lip syncing... she has a good voice, not a great voice, so I don't blame her for trying to take every advantage and trying to ensure the best sound for what was probably the most important show she will ever have in her career... it's the big time... remove as many points of failure as possible.  As for the dancing sharks... it was for kids, I thought it was funny... it was harmless... it was a SHOW.  If Lucille Ball had done it, it would have been "brilliant"...  Showmanship A+, Visuals A, Singing/Sound B+, Style B, Coherency B... Overall B+... which is a heck of a lot better than anything the "Super" Bowl has put forward in a LOOOONNNNNGGG time...

The half time show did what it was intended to do. Keep people out of board-om for 30 minutes till the football started back. Good show or not? I have no idea, I had better things to do.

From NFL statistics:

five times this season, the Seahawks gave the ball to Marshawn Lynch on the 1-yard line; four times he failed to get into the end zone

Yep, that was quoted on Pardon The Interruption last nite. Very interesting. I'll bet Pete Carroll didn't know that fact!
