Anyone familiar with Trey Ratcliff from Stuck in Customs?
Ted, introduced me to his portfolio and on my journey photography, I have truly come to appreciate what he has captured. Example: So, up for discussion, what measures should one take to shoot High Dynamic Range?

1. Tripod
2. Use remote shutter or timed shutter 3. Use either aperture priority or manual mode to control depth of field and/or shutter speed desired to get the "nominal" (the middle shot in the bracket) shot at the desired exposure. 4. Choose an interesting subject with at least a high % of stuff in the scene that will stay still during a bracketed exposure set. 5. Shoot at least a 3 and up to 7 (some say 9) shot bracket in 1 EV increments to cover the full range of detail in all highlights and shadows. I see little reason to ever exceed 5 or maybe 7 bracketed shots even in the most extreme high contrast scenes personally, but I'm no HDR expert. 6. Combine the bracketed shots into a single HDR using good HDR software with good ghosting removal like Photomatix Pro, HDR Efex Pro, and a few others. 7. Be an expert at post-processing like Trey Ratcliff is. |

I spent three years of my life helping develop proper in-frame HDR. It is not straightforward, but it is beautiful when it works...

I've had pretty good results from doing single frame tone-mapping. My camera (and several others nowadays) has in-camera HDR, but you have to shoot in JPEG to do that, and I shoot RAW. I've also done a few "faux" HDRs by simply taking a well-exposed shot, making 4 virtual copies in LR and changing the exposure on each to cover + and - 2 EV on both sides of the original shot.

I doubt it. He's a famous photography. This was probably shot in China.
