Fantastic weekend. Woke up Saturday to a yard full of cows. After 2 calls the owner was found. Then thing went from interesting to great. The owner arrived and after a little introduction he mentioned he has hog tearing up one of his other property's. Yes I can help you. Had rain all that afternoon ending around 3 am Sunday. Up at 5 am morning pickup my SIL, we head the long (he he) 10 mile drive to 880 ac tract. The land is divided into Pecans, Soybean/wheat and cattle pasture. Bordering this is another 800 plus AC of government land that is huntable but with very restricted access. The gov. side is restricted to Buckshot only. Now thru this property the access has been granted.. Much of the morning was spent scouting the areas with heavy cover. We hear hogs several times and caught sight of a large group that were fast on there feet. A cold rain started with fast dropping temperatures. It dropped from 50's down 33* before covering the 1.5 cold miles back to the truck. Scouting is done.  Now for the hunt. Soon to follow. Yippee By the way, it was down to 10* by this morning.

DAY 2

Another bust on the pigs. When we got there at 5:30 am the gate was locked with a different lock. The landowner has been trying to get permission to fly and shoot the hogs from a helicopter. Since I didn,t want to possibly enter during this operation we went back home. Called the owner around 8 and he said it was the trapper had changed the lock. He wanted to keep the dog hunters out so that the pigs would bunch up again. The dogs mostly only scattered the herds. It was around 9 am before we gained entrance to the property and a key. The owner gave us the tour showing where the hogs  had been holding up. Still most of them are located on the island. We went out to the island. The island is heavy cover with lots of thickets and bramble briars.  Walked the entire 1 1/2 mile length scouting  for where the hogs were holding. Found several likely areas with a lot of beds. When we got back to where the fourwheeler was parked you could see tracks where we had pushed the pigs ahead of us across the tracks left where we had come in on the fourwheeler. Stayed till dark without any action. You can't hunt here after dark like you can in Texas. Now that the entire place has been scouted, confidence is higher on a better chance of success on the next trip.
Folks ain't got a sense of humor no more. They don't laugh they just get sore.

Need to follow the rules. Just hard to determine which set of rules to follow
Now the rules have changed again.

If we're not suppose to eat animals...how come they're made of meat?
