    Posted: February/10/2015 at 17:59
After going through the frustration of accuracy with my Ruger Ranch Rifle I just purchased a new Remington R-15 with an 18" barrel.

BTW - I am not knocking Ruger as I am a big fan and have 12 other Ruger rifles and pistols.

I have about 5 or 6 Leupold  VX-3's in the 4.5x14x40 configuration, a Zeiss Conquest 3x9x40 and a Vortex Diamondback 3x9x40.

I really do not want to remove any of the Leupold from guns that I shoot and I will probably sell the Diamondback with Ranch Rifle.

Therefore - I am considering taking my Zeiss 3x9x40 off of a .243 that I never shoot and put it on the R-15.

Question: Do you think this is a good fit for the R-15 or would you consider something with more power such as the Vortex Diamondback 4x12x40?

I will be using this gun for range fun and shooting coyotes in South Texas.

Some of my shots are close (50-60 yards) but I have killed some as far as 250 yards.

Looking forward to hearing your opinions.

I would put the Conquest on the AR and go shoot. I love that scope.

I love that scope also and only shoot it during the years I am out of Axis and need a Doe.
It sits on a Weatherby .243 that is a tack driver.

I think it would compliment your AR-15 nicely.

How's the Remington R-15, by the way? I've only handled one at a Gander Mountain store once.

Mine is still new in the box and has not been fired. If you are interested in one let me know and I can point you towards a great deal.
My hunting buddy has and R15 that consistently shoots !/2" groups at 100 yards and I really like it.
His Armalite is awesome but costs much more. I look at guns like stereos, I can only hear so much!

I am leaning towards the Zeiss on the R15, move the Vortex Diamondback to the .243 and sell the Ranch Rifle without a scope.

Anybody else have experience with a 3x9x40 on an AR or Remington R15?

I had one on a RR varmint and loved it. I now use a ss 5-20 illum because it's better for night hunting coyotes and a ss 1-4 sfp for plinking and 3 gun. The 3-9 was great for all around.
Without integrity you have nothing
