Pretty sure it only applies to the green tip mil ammo based on it being intended to defeat body armor with its steel penetrator core. Actually this stuff "Ball Ammo" is the least effective of all .223 for hunting or home defense. Soft point and hollow point ammo expands.

+1 the jist I got from reading the proposal was because of all the AR type "pistols" being made out there, and that back in 1986 there was a ban put in place to ban AP ammo in pistols, that this is an extension of that.
I an still wary of the Gov't, and therefore do not approve of this action. It is just going to make all 5.56 ammo go out the roof as people panick and start scarfing up anything available. Just look at all tha ammo houses online showing out-of-stock, or the green tip going for $1.00 ea and more.WhackoWhackoWhacko

Lots of manupulation re ammo ans reloading components lately. Why no 22 no 22 mag. Etc. Its hard to justify buying a gun you cant buy ammo for and cost of ammo is price gouged. Its too expensive to shoot it if you can find it.

Rustic/SP, why do you insist in continually creating new aliases? You could have remained an active member if you'd simply just used your original "rustic" account and abided by the rules. You can't have multiple "sock puppets," and once banned under one user name, you're not allowed to return under a new name. You wore out your welcome long ago by being uncooperative and lying.

ATF has decided that they are not going to ban green tipped ammo.
Life's concerns should be about the 120lb pack your trying to get to the top of the mountain, and not the rock in your boot.

Correct.
So keep those comments flowing in to the ATF, and stay vigilant.
