I sent a burris fullfield II in for repair/replacement, it was unrepairable and they sent me a droptine. Should I keep the droptine or request a fullfield II. My gut is send it back for the ffII but would like some other input. thanks

I'm with you.  I'd send it back and ask for an FF II which is a higher price point scope that you paid for.  The FF IIs are good all around scopes and the Droptine looks like something slipped in to fill a lower price point niche such as a scope supplied on package guns by various manufacturers.

Send it back.

This stands, in my opinion, as a mark against Burris.

I'd call them and ask to speak to the CEO or whoever their top management person is. I was getting stiffed by a manufacture one time and researched online who their CEO was. Made a professional looking envelope on my printer and mailed him a letter protesting the issue. A week later I got a call from their Customer Service manager with an apology and that they were sending me a check for $50.

I have a tendency to be relentless until I get satisfaction.

I'm sorely disappointed, Burris has always been one of my favorite manufacturers. Send it back with a letter as TP described, wait a while and see what happens.

I applaud your tenacity, but I made a few calls, (never answered phone) and even more emails, (4?) to Burris and gave up eventually when I got no response. Not sure what you call a customer service dept that won't even respond to your email or answer the dog gone phone, but....I'm just not going to beg someone to make something right.

I bag on IOR for calling me a liar over the phone, but at least Val answered the phone, (once you got the number) Stare and did replace the broken item.

Did they offer an explanation for why they sent you a Droptine rather than FFII?

I could maybe understand if the lines were totally equivalent and maybe you had a FFII config they no longer offer, but they have the same equivalent scope in the Droptine series. Or, if they'd discontinued the FFII series altogether.

However, they still offer FFII scopes, and it appears they offer the same general power ranges in both series. And, it also appears the Droptine series is intended to be a slightly lower line than the FFII, though I've not seen any of these scopes. So, from where I sit in the cheap seats, this makes no sense.

I think I'd be raising some *&$! with Burris and insist they honor their "Forever Warranty" they advertise and replace your scope with exactly what you had. Remind them that Leupold would do it, and if they aren't interested in keeping up with their main competitor by honoring their promise to the customer, you'll remember that on your next scope purchase.

The only "forever" about Burris, is the time in which it takes to answer calls/emails.....I'm like at 3 years now...and counting.

I have had terrible luck with every Burris product I have bought with the sole exception of a fixed one power scope that is no longer made. I found their top of the line pistol scope to be particularly disappointing with very limited eye relief and unusable with anything that has much recoil.
This Scope SUCKS.

Here you go, call them and ask to speak to John McCarty, if not available start down the list. If  none areavailable, write John a letter to the Greeley address and see what happens. Never give up!

Too late....I'm done with Burris. Secret phone numbers, (IOR) and no responses to calls or emails is enough proof for me.

Out.

I would definitely call them and tell them you want a FFII since that is what you sent them.

I have dealt with Burris a time or two and they treated me really well and quickly.  Other have had poor experiences.

+1 what helo18 said, never had a bit of trouble from my FF II's but things happen.  Never needed their CS but have called them to ask questions and always got a response.  I hope they square up with you and make it right.

Looking at the specs, the scopes are identical.  On paper, the only difference between the 2-7x scopes that stands out is the Droptine's paralllax is set for either 50 yds (.22) or 75 yds (slug).  Price difference too.  I would really like to know the thinking of why they would replace your FFII with a scope that serves a different purpose.
