Hello!

Currently I want to build up a Setup to measure the Zernike polynomials of a lens system. Therefore I chose a Shack-Hartman sensor and now I am looking for a light source. As this setup will be in a non-laser-labratory I have to have a laser which is maximum class 2. Furthermore I have to use a laser with a wavelength of 543+/- 10 nm. Up to now I could not find a proper solution...
As this is my first project with a Schack-Hartmann sensor I was wondering whether I HAVE to use a laser or if I could take a white-light source (f.e. tunsgton) and add a bandpass filter to yield the desired wavelength.

Does this work? And what is the reason that "everybody" does the SH-setups with lasers?

Thank you very much for your help!

Bests, Franz
