With the scopes you have on your wish list, you won't be dropping any 8 ounces with the exception of the Swaro. You also requested some info with regards to durability and if you search the net a little you'll find some reports that aren't glowing about Swaro's 1" scopes. I don't know how their 30mm scopes are for durability.

Swaro Z3, 3-9, 12 ounces, done!

If there were a microphone, I'd drop it now.

Customer service?

Water repellency: not sure exactly what you mean. All 4 of those scopes, and all scopes available today that I'm aware of, are weather sealed. If you're referring to the water repelling lens coatings available on some scopes these days, none of those 4 have that feature. Those scopes won't "repel" water, but water won't get inside any of the scopes unless they're defective.

Durability-wise... who knows? Determining that would require putting a large sample size of each through heavy recoil and hard use/abuse to get any meaningful data, and few would be able to do that. Anything anyone could tell you on that would be anecdotal and too influenced by "luck of the draw."

In terms of customer service, Leupold and Swarovski will win that battle hands-down, no contest. I'm not necessarily implying that Zeiss's and Kahles's CS is bad, just that Leupold and Swarovski are among the handful of brands that set the standard in that regard. You almost never hear any complaints about Leupold or Swarovski CS, but you do hear occasional complaints about Zeiss and Kahles CS.

Among those scopes, I would lean toward either the Leupold VX-6 or the Swaro Z3. I haven't seen the Zeiss Conquest DL, so I have no way of knowing how it compares to the others. I suspect it's the same or similar optical system to the now-discontinued Duralyt series, which I do have experience with. If that's the case, I don't think it quite measures up to the others optically, though it's still pretty nice. I like Kahles scopes, but I'm not a huge fan of 50mm objectives despite the light transmission advantage. Yes, it will give you a slight edge if you hunt under moonlight for hogs and predators. For everything else during legal shooting hours, I've never been handicapped by a good 42mm objective scope, so I prefer to keep my hunting rigs low profile and streamlined.

Actually, I would get the Leica ER as mentioned, and in fact, I did just that. I have two ER 2.5-10X42s, and will never part with them. Besides the fact I slightly prefer the view through it vs. the others, it also has "Aqua-Dura" water-repelling lens coatings. The "thin reticle" thing is way overstated. Just get the #4 reticle. Its plenty thick enough to be visible during the last seconds of legal light, unless your eyesight is poor. It does have a thin center crosshair, but the outer posts are pretty bold. I wish the posts extended further toward the center, but that's a minor thing, since it's still pretty visible in low light and the optics are so good.
