So, I have finally completed my 308 AR project. Now for a scope. I know that I will be hunting with this rifle, but I will also be shooting it up to 500 yds. I would like to find a scope with a magnification of around 4 on the low end and 12-16 on the high end. I would also like for it to have a BDC reticle. I really like the reticle on my Vortex Diamond back. Because of hunting with it and riding 4 wheelers, I also would like capped turrets.
Budget for this scope is around $400. There are 3 scopes I'm looking at right now: Vortex 4-16x42 Diamondback HP Rifle Scope Vortex 4-12x40 Viper Rifle Scope Leupold VX•R Patrol 3-9x40mm (30mm) I know the Leupold is over my $400 budget, but I have a chance to get one at a really good price. ($450) Is it worth spending the extra over the Vortex? Is the Vortex Viper worth the extra $70 over the Diamondback HP? Is there another scope around $400 with better glass and the features that I'm looking for? Thanks in advance for all advice and suggestions. |

I have the partrol, I think it is a great scope. The illumination is excellent, glass is good and the adjustments are accurate. Overall a great little scope IMO.

Lifetime warranty and excellent customer service don't mean a thing when your gun fails during a zombie attack.
