Someone needs to test one and tell me if it is worth my money.

I got burned with the SRS, so am a bit reluctant to jump on right at launch.

I have had great success with Trijicon, but the SRS really soured my opinion of them: obvious issue they would not acknowledge, and when they would, they wouldn't fix. And battery life...

MRO looks interesting, might give Aimpoimt micro a run. "Might."

MSRP looks much better than micro, but there is far more to it than that.

I need a new red dot, someone with hands on experience let me know if this worth the $$.

Let's not go crazy here, RC.

I know this is an old thread and saw it while looking for other information. A few guys at work bought these and I shot quite a bit with them. I felt that there was a little bit of a fish eye effect around the outer circumference. I got to where it didn't bother me after several rounds and due to the wide field of view compared to the Aimpoint Micro it meant less and less the more I shot it.

The dot is very clear and round, much more defined than the Aimpoints. Same as the RMR, very defined.

I liked it very much except that the adjustment knobs are not capped nor recessed deep enough or detents stiff enough. All you need is slight finger tip pressure to easily rotate them and lose your zero. To me I could never trust it for work purposes.

Hopefully, they decide to cap them for 2016. If so I would likely make the move.

Thank you for your comments. I don't mean to takeaway from the subject.

I never got the "field of view" complaints on Aimpoints. Both eyes open, right?

To ME, when I peer down the Aimpoint tube, I don't really even notice the housing, just the dot. For me, Aimpoints FOV is unsurpassed.

I agree... has always been the easiest to "get behind" of just about everything for me.  If you keep both eyes open, FOV is as wide as your peripheral vision.

Opinion,untempered by fact,is ignorance.

I wondered about the adjustments, they say the recess prevents accidental movement, but maybe they don't actually use/carry the guns they test/evaluate.

How has battery life been.

On the FOV, the aimpoint has never bothered me in that regard.  I learned shooting open sights so my cheek goes to the same spot every time, both eyes open, it is quick and precise.  With a handgun and red dot, it is a bit different - or maybe just because I am a 1911 guy with red dots on Glocks, so it takes an adjustment that is moving more toward natural - but not yet,

Honestly, Aimpoint is going to be in trouble because it looks like everyone has finally figured out how to do long life red dot sights.

I'll take a look at the new Trijicon at SHOT, but I like where the illumination control on it is.  However, at this point, now that the Chinese figured out the whole long life battery business, it will be very difficult for me to drop $500-$700 on a tube style red dot sight.

I have been playing with Leatherwood's Aimpoint Micro clone/competitor:

I thin kit an outstanding sight that competes well with the Aimpoint Micro.  I thin kit is OEM'ed for Leatherwood, so I expect this same sight to show up in a variety of places.  I think Holosun is the "in-house" brand for whoever makes this red dot sight, but I have more confidence in Leatherwood's CS.  That having been said, it works great despite some rather rough use.

Now, the MRO might offer an even more unobstructed view based on where the controls are, but I would need to test to see.

Then again, if I want the most unobstructed view, I will not be looking at a tube style red dot.  I'll be looking at something along the lines of Leupold Deltapoint or something along those lines.

It will be very interesting to see what Aimpoint does next week.  The MRO is basically Trijicon's attempt to take US military sales from Aimpoint (Leupold is trying to do the same thing with LCO, but it is a bit expensive).  Aimpoint might be heading toward a rough patch.

Forgot to add: if you are looking at MRO, you should also acquaint yourself with some DI Optical products.

I think the Trijicon SRS is a great scope. it is commonly used in the israeli army. why don't you like it?

1. Absurdly expensive for what you get.
2. There is a very well documented issue with use facing into a light source. Trijicon knows and chooses to not fix the problem - and makes no significant attempt to make it right when customers notice it.
3. It is large and heavy.
4. Ocular is large, objective is not, lots of optic to see when you use the optic.

RC, have you ever looked at Leupold's LCO?

It is very expensive indeed, but it may very well be the best general purpose red dot sight I have seen to date.  I am testing it together with the D-EVO and they make for a pretty interesting combination.

Is it worth the money?

My next need will be for a red dot to sit on a Sig MPX.  This looks a bit bulky for a small SBR.

I have yet to be so impressed as to sell my Aimpoints.

Probably not, since it is really significantly more expensive than virtually all other red dot sights I am aware of.

However, I need to spend a little more time with it to really give a good answer.

I like the combination of a very small dot with very high brightness.

Have you spent any more time with the LCO Ilya? I just went and looked at the price crazy, when you look at the price of comparable red dots. Was wondering why you thought so highly off it?

I tested the LCO rather carefully, and I like it a lot, but I can't justify the cost, to be honest.

Is it the best general purpose red dot sight I have ever used? Yes.
Is it sufficiently better than quality Aimpoint/Trijicon designs to be worth the difference? Not for me.  Not at this time.  If it was priced same as Aimpoint, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Honestly, I still might, if I manage to talk Leupold into a big enough discount.

It has a rather large viewing window with minimal obstruction around it and a very small dot that gets very bright when needed.  It is a different feel to most other red dot sights because the dot is so small, but I found it both very fast and very precise when needed.

Interestingly, while Leupold markets it together with the D-EVO, the LCO really does amazingly well with a magnifier, also owing to that small dot.  I do not think Leupold makes a magnifier, so I tried it with the one from Vortex that I was testing.

Thanks Ilya I personally didn't see how it could be, worth double the price of Aimpoint and Trijicon red dots. Other than field off view and dot size, it is just a red dot.
