For neoprene fans, you can get the ScopeGuard Alaska covers which already have the pull tabs and the "keeper" loop installed. Available easily online or at Amazon.com.

Terry, be warned, the product mentioned above is a knockoff of the original ScopeShield Scope Cover. I discovered this the hard way when I contacted the customer service department at ScopeShield, Inc. complaining that there was a defect with the cover I bought. The receptionist, Rachael, informed me that the product I had bought wasn't their's, but to my surprise she offered to replace it with one of theirs. Can you believe that? Three days later, I received a new ScopeShield Scope Cover. Wow!

That was three years ago and today I have a ScopeShield Scope Cover on every scope I own.
Here is a clarification on the ScopeGuard Alaska/ScopeShield discussion. ScopeShield Alaska changed its name to ScopeGuard Alaska at the beginning of 2014, having been in business since 2007. ScopeShield Inc is a 2 year old company owned and operated by a website design firm. ScopeGuard Alaska covers ARE NOT KNOCKOFFS, as they are, to this day made by the same US Army veteran hands that made ScopeShields for many years until the present owners took over. The current ScopeShield Inc website firm took over the company and the ScopeShield name from the unfortunate trademark owner, and has them made somewhere, but not by the original manufacturer. ScopeGuard Alaska covers are simply guaranteed for life. There is more to the story of course, and why the manufacturer and the founder of ScopeShield Alaska refused to have anything to do with the present ScopeShield Inc owners, but I hope this helps.

And, as this has resurfaced, I will affirm that Butler Creeks still suck. I broke an ocular cover last week, and will throw the objective in the trash and get another set of asdmounts.
I hate Butler Creek.

If I'm worried about the lenses on my scope, I'm worried about the scope overall. In other words, I'm traveling through rocky, brushy country and/or it's snowing. Caps less than $100/set tend to get lost and don't do much.

The neoprene covers sold by what is now known as ScopeGuard Alaska have worked well for me. I've only ever once popped the cover off to take a snap shot but it was quick enough. Generally, once I'm in an area I'm going to hunt actively, I take the cover off.
Reaction time is a factor...
