No wonder I have struggled with those first shot its. I have been using the wrong scientific facts in my calculations all along.

Last night I watched an episode of The Good Wife. A ballistic "expert" explained ballistics as part of the defence. Firstly he cleared up the matter of the ballistic trajectory. He stated that it is known as the rainbow effect because the path of the bullet is like a rainbow. OK, then he explained older firearms used lead bullets which travelled slower then modern bullets. That is because modern bullets have copper jackets, which causes them to travel faster. Gee, I was adding more powder to get my bullets to go faster. Meanwhile I should have used a copper jacket.

So his trump card was that the bullet path showed a high rainbow effect, which meant it was a lead bullet fired, which meant that it was an old firearm that was used. And my lordship, the accused has a modern firearm, so he is innocent!!

Clear as mud I hope....

I'd rather TV blow smoke about such things to keep the general public ignorant of such thing s instead of
training them to be better criminals.....  Loco

All the forensics really shows in America have gone into great detail on how to destroy evidence and ruin crime scenes.  Also they've shown several different ways to do illegal things and hide them!!!

He was kind of right.  It is the copper jackets that allow bullets to be fired faster.  Bucky

Lifetime warranty and excellent customer service don't mean a thing when your gun fails during a zombie attack.

Our minister of police shares your sentiment. Our latest crime statistics has just been released, with an upward trend (no surprise there). Her explanation was that too much is being reported about crime and that there should be some media censure on crime reporting. 90% of the public went ballistic, saying it takes policing to curb crime etc. But I and the other 9% thought there may be some merit in what she is saying, as per your sentiment above.
