But lapping is way to cool not to do it. As stated earlier, I lapped the one piece rings I have mounted on a Remington action. It seemed to give a great fit after lapping. I have on a number of occasions removed the scope by removing the rings from the base pillar. When putting the scope back I needed only had a slight left/right adjustment, one round into the target, two or three clicks and she was bang on nuts all day long.

And when I tell guys I had lapped the scope rings I get a look of respect !!! This dude knows his stuff.

I had a Kales with Talley lightweights on this gun for years no problems, I put a Leica ER I had laying around and had issues, not enough height adjustment, sent the scope back to Leica after 6 weeks they sent it back and said nothing wrong with the scope. I put a set of XTR Signature Rings was still shooting low at 100 yards, Traded the scope last week to SWFA for a Swro Z5, should have it today. Thinking of putting a 1 piece rail on it with the Burris rings, but do I purchase a 20 moa base or a pain base. What are your thoughts. I just want to have all options available, this is my wife's gun and I am tired off hearing about it, it is a Kimber 84m 308. Need some advice.

Thanks for the help

I agree, a 1-piece rail does nothing to address bad receiver holes; however, it sure makes it obvious quickly, and long before you could dork a scope.

Are you saying the scope is bottoming out on elevation before you get on target at 100 yards?  If you are all the way at the top of the elevation range, with flat bases, a 20MOA base would put you that much lower at 100 yards, it'd compound your problem.
