After many 1000's of rounds fired out of 2-4 rifles during the past 49 years, using many 5 gallon pails of .30-06 brass and 100's of pounds of bullets and powder and stacks of primer cartons I have determined that the 6.5-06 is my ultimate cartridge. Too bad it eats barrels badly but continually having a rifle at the gun-smith's for a re-barrel job helps. I am thrilled about seeing those pointy 123 - 140 grain bullets zip out to 500 yards and beyond when set off by large amounts of H1000. 100 grainers fly real flat out to 400 for varmints. Would the extra 200-250 fps make the 26 Nosler worthy ? - extra cost for brass, extra long length action, and more barrel wear |

Stevey, whatever works, they are all great.

I'm not sure if I buy the barrel burning deal.. The 25-06 has been around a lot of years and is more overbore than the 6.5 and I don't hear issues there. Im sure like anything else though, its how you use it. The .26&.28 noslers are a niche round imo.. I'm not sure the .28 is that much of jump compared to the 7stw, or 7rum?? The .26 nosler is probably a better performer up to point compared to the .264 win mag, but a what cost?? I'd stick with the 6.5-06 myself..
