As some of you may know by now, Kentucky elected a new Republican Governor last night. He won by 9pts., which has shocked everyone that he would win by so much. For that matter that he would win at all was a shock. Why? As late as last Thursday a Blue Grass Poll showed that the Democrat was at 45% and the Republican at 40%, and the TV and radio stations were already saying, "Looks like Kentucky is going to have another Democrat Governor". I went to bed last night depressed, except for one small hope.
You see the Blue Grass Poll is conducted by the Lexington Herald; a left leaning pro-Democrat newspaper. The same poll that just last year in the U.S. Senate campaign always placed the Democratic candidate ahead of the Republican until just weeks before the election, and then it was "too close to call", or the Democrat had a point or 2 edge, but it was within the margin of error. Then the election took place, and the republican won by 12 points. Now you can argue that the Lexington Herald just has a lousy polling service, or you can argue that a liberal newspaper is trying to influence an election, but can you really argue that the Lexington Herald is an objective news source? |

Now think about this. As I understand it, in the elections that took place across the Nation Tuesday, the polls showed many of the conservative candidates were trailing the Democrats, yet they won easily. Also many liberal issues were supposed to win, but went down in defeat.
Now I remember a time when if polls gave a candidate a 1 or 2% advantage, then that candidate usually won within the margin of error. Now it seems polls are more about trying to shape the vote, or has it become that difficult to conduct an accurate poll. |

Makes me wonder who is really in the lead on the Republican side of the Presidential candidates. If the pollsters are right about why their polls aren't accurate, then it could explain why Trump has done so well.
