I have a E. Leitz Wetzlar 7x50 Binocular which on the left side says 7x50, ELEITZ, WETZLAR, 302566 and on the right side has the German Nazi eagle with a swastika symbol with an "M" below it and 19931 with and "N" to the right side below that.
I would appreciate any information that you may have on this binocular. It appears to be in very good condition, very clear view and it's easy to work the focus on both eye pieces. The leather strap is in very good condition but there is no case or covers for any of the lens.
Is there a source to get new lens covers so I can protect the lens and eye pieces between use and during storage? And does anyone know the value of this item?
Respectfully,
Bob

No idea.  Go on ebay and see what people are asking.  If it's 1940s Leitz and is good condition you are certainly in $200 and up territory....

I have a pair exactly like yours.

Your binoculars are German Kriegsmarine, from early WW2 - 1940 to 1943.  The "M" is the designation for "marine" or maritime use, the "N" was the designation for "North Sea Fleet".. These are commonly referred to as "U-boat" binoculars, but were issued to all naval forces.

The quality of the optics in these glasses is excellent, almost equal to the best available today from Zeiss or Fujinon.

If they are a little hazy, they are well worth the cost to get them cleaned. ( Check ebay under "U=boat binoculars" - you will find them selling for $500 to $1200)

For a lens cover, you can find reproduction covers for $20 - $30.  If you want an original (and period correct) a bakelite cover is $50 - $60.  (do not pay more)

Do you have the case for these glasses as well?

Leitz beh 7x50 U-boat
Leitz beh 7x50
Leitz 10x50 "WA"
Zeiss 10x50 (1917)
Zeiss 18x50 (1923)
Zeiss 7x50 "U-boat"
Zeiss 7x50 "Gas Mask"
Zeiss 7x50 "Smooth Ocular"
Zeiss 8x60

Thanks you very much for the detail reply. Do you have a recommended source for the lens covers and case? I don't need the originals, just something that is functional.
Thanks,
Bob

I was just given a pair of these that appears to be older than the ones mentioned in this post.  They work great but are missing the screw on spacer that goes over the lens to give your eyes the proper focus distance.  Any idea where I can get a replacement?  Thanks!
