Hi gang.

I am interested in a spotter that I can use to call buddies' shots and range with, mildots or equivalent.  I'm aware of the Leupold, the Vortex with the eyepiece upgrade, and the Bushnell (the only review I've seen on it wasn't stellar).

Are there any others out there worth considering?  I'm using an old straight Swaro spotter now, love the glass but want a reticle inside it.

Also, maybe a dumb quuestion, but are the Leupold or Vortex FFP?  Is that even "a thing" in a spotter, or are the mildots onyl accurate at a certain magnification point?

Thanks.

OK.... Any suggestions what other forums to post this question in?  I no longer have an account over on the hide after "the change over."

ar15.com's signal to noise ratio is a lot lower these days....

Comments welcome.

I have a Mark 4 12-40 with the inverted Horus H32 reticle.
I dig it
Yes, it has to be a FFP for the reticle to work at differing magnifications

Swaro now has a spotter with a reticle in it:

I've played with one for a bit and it is just superb, though expensive.

Minox has a couple of new designs that looked promising (MD 60Z and MD 80 Z), but I have not tested them yet.  I plan to do so this year.

I have a Vortex razer HD with 30X wide angle and mil reticle, I love it.  It is a fixed power, but has wider field of view than the 20-60 variable and is brighter than the 20-60 variable eye piece.

In light of this, and the good resolution of the razer, I seldom put the 20-60X eye piece on any more, the 30X just does so many things really, really well.

If you can find a Bushnell Excursion Tactical somewhere, you will have a damn good optic under $500.
