Apparently the "Pro" Crop Sensor DSLR isn't dead for Nikonians.

Nikon dropped a bombshell at CES...

That spec list is something else.

I suppose it will be awhile for supply to meet demand on that one.

Matt you beat me to it. I was working on posting about this and got side tracked.

Have you seen the updated full frame D5?

I have seen pics and specs of the D5, but it is most certainly out of my price range at $6,500.

I'm with you there.

I saw Nikon thus far has three new released items that debuted at CES2016.

The D500, D5, and a new speedlight.

and...the D500 has 153 focus point coverage. Check it out through the view finder.

Another feature I thought was nice, was the enhanced RAW buffer.

Here's what phtographylife said about it.

200 RAW Image Buffer

The Nikon D500, just like its bigger brother, the Nikon D5, is capable of shooting up to 200 losslessly compressed 14-bit RAW images before the buffer fills up when using XQD memory cards. That’s right, Nikon finally gave both cameras a pretty much unlimited buffer! Only if you choose to shoot in 14-bit uncompressed RAW (which is plain silly), the buffer would be reduced to 71 images. That’s a crazy tool for those machine gun “spray and pray” moments we all experience every once in a while

One thing my D7000 is handicapped by. Because Ted, has shared and elaborated in great detail and of course with his added satire, I will only shoot in RAW. Mainly because all of my images will go into PP anyhow, shooting in RAW, I do not loose any content and can get more creative with my images.

That AF and speed is amazing. This body is going to keep me from moving to FX. Initial rumblings are that it has FX level IQ, even at high ISO.

Time will tell.
