I've read enough to know the Leica comes highly advised, but I'm terrified to break something so expensive. Obviously this is a super attractive quality of Vortex products in general.
I know reviews are mixed on the Ranger 1000, but didn't know if anyone had experience with the 1500. Claims to range deer out to 750 which is much further than I'd ever consider shooting one. Reflective targets up to 1500, again more than I need. Would rather overkill it just a bit than regret later.

I've never played with the 1500 outside of a store but have a buddy who had the opportunity to use one in the field and he said it was noticeably less finicky when ranging at 500+. We both had a 1000 and got rid of them for this exact reason.
In the store setting I noticed right away that it seems faster than the old 1000 but I've already purchased a Leica to replace my old Ranger 1000. |
