does it make sense to install a peep/aperture sight at the rear of the receiver on top of a break barrel air rifle? would that be a precise set up or does the hinge of the barrel make it a bad idea?
i see Olympic air rifles with such sights, but they are all one piece rifles. if not, what is a good quality mount and rings for mounting a scope on a springer rifle?

The scopes on my heavy springers, Webley & Scott Patriot and RWS 350 Mag, are mounted on the receiver. I have not seen a break barrel that does not mount this way. So, mounting a peep would be of little difference and makes good sense if you want irons. For mounts you cannot go wrong with http://swfa.com/200-Series-1-C3425.aspx?s=Name ASC&p=1 |

Williams FP-AG-TK for guns with high line sights,I use this on my vintage FWB 124D. I really like the target knobs(TK) over the screwdriver click adjustable model. If you like irons but do not want a big scope on your air rifle these are great.
They also make the same sight but for guns with a lower front sight: FP-GR-TK http://www.williamsgunsight.com/
