Greetings folks,

In my old age, I have developed an interest in collecting things that are older than I am.

I have, lately, began gathering (too soon for collecting) vintage/antique binoculars.  It is usually not hard to find out information on the big boys in the vintage optic companies but I have one that is stumping me.

I bought a pair of Otto Walter 8 x 34 binoculars.  These are similar to the Hensoldt or Zeiss production from between the world wars.  Other markings are: Prismen Glaser and Reflexfreie.  They were sold as German, and with the German script, I am not inclined to argue.

The condition of the binoculars is in the high 90% range and they came with a nice leather pouch, again, very similar to pre-war construction. The optics are clear and bright.

If anyone could shed any light on the history of these I would appreciate it very much.

Steve

I have a great photo but I will be danged if I can figure out how to post it here.

When I select the "insert image" icon above, it doesn't give me a way to select from my computer.

I know, I need an 8 year old in the house, but that ship has sailed. :)
