A while back, I purchased the following inexpensive binoculars:
Bushnell H2O Waterproof/Fogproof Compact Roof Prism Binocular, Camo, 10 x 25-mm Both of my eyes are not equal, so I focus for the left eye with the main focus wheel and then adjust the right eyepiece to bring it into focus. With these binocs, every time I refocus for a new distance, I have to refocus the eyepiece, as well. Is that normal, or is it a defect? If it is normal, then I will naturally just have to live with it, but, if it is a defect, I want to address it while still in warranty. All comments welcome and appreciated. |

No that is not normal. On a good binocular you should only have to set the diopter once, or at most very rarely. Actually it is probably rare for both eyes to be equal. Since they are likely unequal to begin with, that is why both eyes have to be adjusted separately
This is a case of you got just what you paid for. Good glass does not have to cost a lot, but there is a difference between "doesn't cost a lot" and "cheap". Even if the warranty works, which I have to say, I'm not a fan of Bushnell service, you still don't have much of a binocular. You will probably not get it serviced, maybe replaced, those things are too cheap to fix. Don’t want to be a downer, but it is what it is. BTW, welcome to OT. Wish I had better news. As to Bushnell service, I am no fan, either. Bushnell now owns Primos, who seem to be good people, so, when my Primos Trigger Stick tripod was faulty, I had to send to Bushnell. I had to pay shipping to get it there (not cheap), and then $10 to Bushnell to get it back, even though it is under warranty. Fortunately, though, Bubba at Primos waived the $10. That's something, I guess. I intend to avoid Bushnell from here on. Thanks for the reply. |

I think spending the modest amount of money for the 10X30 (if you like the configuration of your 10X24) Leupold Yosemite would be a good move, rather than spending any amount on shipping those binoculars to Bushnell.

Gosh, Steve:
With your first post, you started to sound like me; shame on you. Dave sold his company in 1972 and things haven't been the same since. Welcome, Jere. |

I have a couple of Bushnell Rangemasters from the Dave Bushnell days. One by Fuji and one by Tamron. I have another Bushnell Custom from Fuji as well. Those were the days when Dave Bushnell told Fuji to build the best binocular they could and he'd buy it. Sadly it has been a long slide from Dave’s heyday. The Rangemasters and the Custom are still darn good even by today's standards. To the OP, I agree with Bitterroot on the Yosemite idea. |
