Looking at scopes that have a 34mm tube that are FFP and mil/mil adjustments with a 3-18X magnification range.  Nothing special about the 34mm tube other than I have a Larue 34mm mount and rings, plus I have been curious about giving the 34mm scopes a run.  Goal is to keep is around the $2K or lower mark.

Use could vary.  Could go on a 22-250 rifle for varmint shooting, a 6.5 Creedmoor build that will serve as a hunting/target rifle or on a SPR AR.  The 22-250 or SPR are the leading candidates since neither is a walking around rifle.

I was planning on mounting a March 3-24X42 scope of the 6.5 Creedmoor (currently sitting on the 22-250) and the SPR currently has USO SR-8C (Great scope but thickness of the stadia lines covers up a lot of real estate)

Seems like the Vortex Razor Gen II is the odds on favorite based on what I've been reading but if weight was a consideration, what other options are there?  Here is a short list that I have found

Bushnell ERS 3.5-21X50
Leupold Mark 6 3-18X44
Steiner T5Xi 3-15X50

Based on what I'm reading, the Vortex Razor has the advantage over the three scopes above, but weight is almost 2X that of the Mark 6 and T5Xi.

Realizing this is very subjective, but is the compromise in optics quality going from the Gen II Razor to one of the other three significant?

Any other 34mm options within this price and magnification range?

Ended up falling in to a good deal on a used Gen II Razor and purchased it.  Despite the weight, it will probably go on the SPR.

Still would be interested in feedback on the other scopes.  The March is coming off the 22-250 and needs new glass.

I tested the Mark 6 and Steiner side by side along with a few others.  Stay tuned for the full write-up.

I have the 3-18 razer, love it.

Buying the Razor was probably inevitable and a LNIB used one with rings for $500 less than new made it an easy decision.  I need a scope for a new SWFA AR anyway, so I'll just do some juggling.  Realistically another March was the only real competition, but would have had to gone without illumination to stay in the price point.

Ilya:  Looking forward to your reviews.  I saw BigJimFish's review on the Mark 6 on your website, which left me with a very "meh" impression but also saw you were impressed with the Steiner.  Coker's website has an review of the Bushnell that seems very positive as well.

In order to address the subjectivity of optical quality, how the Bushnell, Leupold and Steiner compare with other scopes would be helpful.

I'm very familiar with SWFA HD, Swarovski Z5, Leupold VX-6, US Optics and Leica ERi scopes.

I mentioned it's quality for shooting. For your kind information, it's a long range precision scope with low profile side parallax adjustment. So I wish you would like it. :)
