Just wanted to ask is any one knows if the Muzzle Break on a Remington AWR 1 is removable.
Mine was factory fitted but I can't seem to get it off.. So Im not sure if its removable. Any tips aside from putting a flame thrower and pipe wrench to it would be helpful. Thanks

It may be pinned, not sure. Remington CS should be able to give you a 100% confirmation but it is removable, but may require more than a wrench and some "umpf" into it.

Thanks
Tried the Rem Custom Shop but no response to several emails... I can see the line where it meets the barrel so its added but can't seem to move it.. I tried to but a pin into the holes on the brake but still no joy. I was thinking they may have used lock tight, or some other goo. But was interested to hear if other had come across the same issue. |

If its not got a pin then heat it up, sometimes it takes more heat that most are comfortable using, and break the loc tite down so it will release. then should turn off. I've had several ARs that I would have damaged the receiver on turning the muzzle break off if I would have not used a barrel vise so use caution how you hold the receiver/barrel to try to take off. Warping the receiver is no fun. I bought a beretta 71 with a pinned on faux suppressor and had to grind the suppressor down to find the pin to be able to remove it. Some AR's are that way. I had a kel-tec rifle I worked on that way as well. Like Doug stated above, call Remington, I normally get much faster results with a phone call than emails. |

Well I did contact the Remington Custom Shop about the Break for the Alaskan Wilderness Rifle (1)
So the only thing they could suggest is: "Why don't you try turning it the other way". No so comforting and answer. I can't see any reason why it would be threaded with a left hand thread. Anyway a little heat may break down the lock tight. |

I think it may take more heat that you expect. If your not comfortable with the force you're using take to a qualified smith, I'm sure they could pop it off in a few minutes and have you on your way. once you get it off, what you going to go back with? |

Yes your right it will take some heat..
But need to check with Remington on the teflon finish and that it won't get damaged with the heat. I just need to be able to remove it for flexibility when hunting as I don't want the break on the rifle all the time. Thanks

I used a electric heat gun , strap wrench and thermal couple to remove forearm which is also the barrel nut combined on RRA at-15. The blue locktite softens at around 500 degrees Fahrenheit .

Electric heat is the way to go instead of a torch.... I use one from harbor freight and it works well.

Yes I think your right on the Electric heat.
I would not have used a blow torch or flame on the barrel. |

So I heard back from Remington and they confirm its a left hand thread.... "Yes the brake is left-hand thread. No speculation involved. That is the extent of the historical data I can provide." |
