I'm new to the ar world and was wondering what would be the best scope for shooting out to 100-200 yds and be illuminated but still be light and maneuverable in close quarters. I've looked at some monstrum tactical scopes but have read some bad reviews on them, I looked at a primary arms 1-4x24 tube scope for a decent price but I was wondering what would be the best scope brand for the price to meet those requirements. Or should I just get a red dot and a magnifier?

Rebel64, check out the SampleList.com. There's some Nikon's that are made specifically (or should I say marketed) for the AR platform that will fit your budget. You can pretty much put any scope on an AR, though.

Check samplelist.com. You'll find really good deals there. Often $100 or more off retail for a demo A scope. For your purposes, I think a 1-4 power would fit the bill. However, most of them are above your stated price range.

Well I have looked at a primary arms 1-4x24 for 120 but was wondering if I could trust like a monstrum tactical or something like that.

If cqb is a genuine priority, I'd skip any and all optics in that price range and go with irons.
If mostly for hunting, I'd save a bit longer. The difference between an okay scope and a good scope is worth a longer wait, in my opinion. |
