I have an AR with a 18" Rainer select barrel with a .223 wylde chamber and 1:8 twist. I am looking for suggestions on what factory ammo to try that won't hit the rifling when chambered. All I have tried so far is Hornady 55 grn vmax and they are too long. Looking for something to hunt coyotes with.

Hmm, sounds like you have a chamber issue. I have had several of their wylde barrels and never had an issue like that.

Somethings not right here. Round won't go into battery?

It locks up, but when you extract an unfired round it pulls out hard and there is a ring around the bullet from where it contacted the end of the chamber.

Was sure I had a point when I started this post...

That's a short throat, not short headspace.

So, is there any factory ammo that will work with the shorter throat, or do I need to send the barrel back to Rainier?

I would have the chamber re-cut, perhaps simply extend the leade a bit.

Why limit ammo options ?

They will exchange it for a better one.  Rainier has a guarantee on their barrels, they are great to deal with.  Just call them and tell them the problem, I bet they will exchange you a new one.
