Just bought these two small fixed blade skinners by Rick Menefee from a mutual friend of Roy Finn's and mine, Vincent over at VCM Custom Knives. As many of you know, Menefee and Bret Dowell were Roy's two favorite custom knife makers.

The first is this "Three Finger" skinner with Sambar stag scales, swedge spine, tapered tang, and thick red liners with Larry Parsons leather sheath...

The second knife, also made by Rick Menefee, is a small "Front Pocket" skinner with some beautiful mammoth ivory scales, swedge spine, tapered tang, red liners, and Parsons leather. It's a tiny little knife, but well-proportioned...

Both knives are much smaller than I prefer for all around field dressing/skinning use, but I couldn't resist their charms. I haven't received them yet; they should arrive at my house on Saturday. These photos are not my own; they were provided by VCM Custom Knives.

I can't wait!

Roy basically got me interested in custom knives. Before I got to know him here on OT, I appreciated fine knives, but I only owned mass-produced knives and never considered going the custom route. He and I had enough conversations about custom knives that I had a pretty good idea of his taste in fine blades. I believe he would've approved and really appreciated these latest additions to my knife collection!

Check Vincent's website periodically if you're interested in very nice blades:

A very nice knife indeed but it is a little bit small for me.

You do realize that thread was from 3 years ago, right?

Nevertheless, they are still beautiful little knives, and I still have them in my collection. They are the only Rick Menefee - made knives I own.
