Galapagos Islands.  They were on Fernandina Island and the snakes were Racers.

A thousand hungry racers is no fun… for anybody

Galapagos has some very interesting creatures.  I would actually like to have a Komodo Dragon… keep 'em fed and they are pretty docile… of course, you'd like to start with a newborn so you can "imprint"...

I don't mind one snake at a time - even rattlers (I prefer them to other poisonous snakes 'cause at least they'll sometimes let you know they're there.

Actually, after reading http://www.sciencealert.com/in-defence-of-racer-snakes-the-demons-of-planet-earth-ii?perpetual=yes&limitstart=1 while I still don't want to be around a bunch of them, there's some good points made.

I don't fear snakes… I used to capture rattlers and copperheads all the time when I was a kid.  The overwhelming number of those racers makes it undesireable for me to be in their presence.  IF, not likely but not impossible, they did decide I was "prey", I know of no saving action I could take… just doesn't appear prudent to be surrounded by that many creatures looking for food all at the same time… Perhaps human size would deter them… "feeding frenzy" is a difficult thing to estimate.  My question is with that many snakes, how could birds, lizards, even dragons survive… seems they would overwhelm the nesting areas.

Those are small snakes and unless you step on one, they have no interest in you.

Snakes are usually pretty good in sizing up their prey, so unless you are small enough to eat, they could not care less what you do.

Komodo dragons are nowhere near Galapagos, but yet deal with snakes all the time on the Komodo islands. However, for them snakes are mostly a good food source.

Hence the name "Komodo"…  the dragons were just a reference, probably not clear enough …  but thanks...
