I just put a Williams FP receiver sight on my old Win 94 (1953 manufacture). I need to change out the front sight to something more visible... plus the existing one is loose and all beat up anyway. I'm not sure how to determine what height to get. I know there are some mathematical formulas and I also do not own a dial caliper to get any accurate measurements. Somewhere I remember reading that the original was something like .310". Should I be getting similar or something in the middle of the range? The Williams sight has a fair amount of vertical adjustment, but I don't want to bottom anything out. Any suggestions would be welcomed. Thank you.

Skip, I will be taking the 94 up this fall... along with one bolt gun. It should be fun. Thanks for asking! |

I have a Winchester 75 Sporter ( 22 ) that used to have a receiver sight on it. It had no front sight hood. So I got myself a genuine pre-64 Winchester hood to put back on it. The front blade was so tall that I can't get the hood on! I will have to have that pushed out.

I also removed the hood when I took the front sight out. I may just leave it out depending on what front sight I get. I found a white blade XS sight that looks pretty good... better than the F.O. Sights and almost as visible. I may just try one!

Per Brownell's Tech folks... the total front sight and ramp needs to be .479" above the barrel when using the Williams FP receiver sight. (In case anybody may ever be interested).
