The only reference I am personally aware of for collimating a scope pertains to telescopes, specifically those with mirrors. However, it seems that any optical device can be collimated to align the light between two or more lenses. Is this correct? Can any array or two or more lenses need collimating, or is this only for complex systems with mirrors?
I have an old (really old, probably 1980s or 1990s MFG) Swarovski spotting scope, the telescoping kind, that I would like to send to Swarovski for cleaning and a general checkup. I tried contacing Swaro Optik through their website a few months ago and never got any reply. Does anyone know how to send something to them for maintenance, and how it is handled (cost, services performed, etc)? Thanks.

+3, if your serious about contacting them then make the call.
I sent back on old pair of SLC's I purchased back in the 90's for Swarosvki to go through them with a checkup, good cleaning and preventive maintenance. The binos were about 15 years old and they updated everything including the exterior armor housing and eye cups. The entire cost to me was shipping to and from Swarovski. They absolutely have one of the best CS out there. |
