Don't know why, but i have never become closest friend with my Tikka T3 Lite 30-06. Maybe because it kicks like a mule, compared to my 6,5x55 Blaser..….. I have never been crazy with the look of GRS stocks, but last time at the range i bumped in to a guy who also had a T3 Lite in 30-06. He had the same thoughts, but had taken the jump and bought himself a GRS stock. Now, this was the first time he had it out and after sighting it in the results started showing. At 200 meters he placed them hole in hole.. several times. Last week i bought a GRS stock, and i have to say that i was really impressed although i only was at a 100 meter range it parked the beans nicely next to, and into, each other. I am happy i didn't sell the rifle but modyfied it instead… Like the look or not. Here it is. |

That is a good looking stock. I am also a Tikka fan, great guns for the money.
In looking at the GRS stocks, I see only 2 drawbacks: 1. Shooting ambi is pretty much a no-go with their stuff, you shoot righty or lefty, no switching. 2. Laminate and wet weather are not good friends. I know they have a senthetic now, but the fore end looks hollow, so changing barrel profiles is a no go. For a laminate stock that looks like it would fit like a glove, that looks like a great option.

Really like that look. 30-06 has always been one of my favorites. Have fun with it… sounds like you are off to a good start.

Very nice!
So I take it, it made the recoil much more manageable. |

Thank's guys. R.C. : I have no experience with laminated stocks and bad weather, I actually didn't give it more thought than if it have been an ordinary wood stock. Please fill me in. I talked to them at GRS.regarding the new synthetic stock called Berserk. Unfortunately they don't make that stock for lefty's, else I would have taken that model. A buddy of mine have one, and is very pleased with it. Peddler: Didn't your mother teach you that two wrongs make a right? Sparky: Yeah. It gained app. a kilo which combined with the grip etc. makes it much more eatable when it comes to recoil. I never saw myself having recoil fear, but with the old stock I simply just " cramped " to hold on to the darn thing, so, like I wrote, never became very good friends with it. Thank got THAT's over now. Again. Thank you all for the nice comments. |

A laminate stock in regards to a wood stock can be one of the better options for wet and temp swing weather. If it is manufactured correctly. As with all things there are good and bad ones. I have a few laminate stocks that have I used in pretty rough wet conditions like rain, snow, and sleet and my samples have help up well. Ultimately it is just a fancy plywood. Good qualities and bad.
Comparing any wood stock to a good synthetic, the synthetic will be more durable and better in most cases. But a good laminate is still a good choice IMO. |

When the disposable income builds back up, I am thinking about their Berserk stock.
