For high-powered scopes, in the old days I was told to dial the parallax until the target was in focus, and that at point I wouldn't have parallax error with the reticle.

I have since learned that is not true.  In fact, it is irritating to be on a top-tier scope and discover that I have to dial the target out of focus to eliminate parallax.  Not to mention, given the variety of scopes I use, that it's tedious to have to go through the exercise of anchoring the rifle and bobbing my head around the eyebox while dialing the parallax until I'm convinced the reticle is not moving with respect to the target every time I switch target distance!

I know that if I can maintain a perfectly repeated head weld with respect to the scope that parallax won't produce POA errors.  But when I'm trying to produce single-hole groups, I'd rather ensure that parallax has been dialed out.  (And again, I shoot too many different guns to have 100% confidence in my cheek weld.)

As I noted here: at least NightForce explicitly told me that there is no guarantee that the target image is going to be in sharp focus with the parallax removed.

Are there any manufacturers that produce high-power scopes where they expect target focus will coincide with zero reticle parallax on the target (and will repair the scope if that is not the case)?  (Or is there a physical reason that is hard or impossible to ensure?)
