Thinking about getting a cross bow ( RAVEN 15) and wondering if the scope that it comes with is decent or should it be replaced? If replaced what brand and or model? Thanks.

Most all of the scopes that come with crossbows are not that great. Most are Chinese made ... POS. The Hawke illuminated XB1 or Pro series are ok (I guess), but the glass on most all of them is only barely serviceable (as far as I'm concerned). I use a Trijicon xbow scope but it's pricey. Trying to find a good scope with an adjustable objective (or parallax set to 40-50 yards) with holdovers is about impossible. Some manufacturers will reset the parallax, but the prices have gotten terrible. Reticles vary considerably. 2FP variable power scopes are the norm, but with the speed compensation dial usage you end up with a fixed power scope. You can add something like an HHA Optimizer or Jack plate and use many "rifle" scopes... if you can adjust the parallax (and the manufacturer says the scopes can handle crossbow usage). FFP scopes designed for xbow use are about non-existent.

One of my buddies has a Ravin, I’ll ask how he likes the scope that came with it. He’s pretty fussy.

My friend purchased his Ravin when they first came out and says the scope on that model is better than the one that was on the Browning xbow that he previously owned and is better than what he has seen on a Matthews bow.
He also says Ravin has a new scope on their website that appears even better than what he has now. |

10-4 ... if you can get the parallax issue under control. Plus U need holdover lines or dots of some sort. Being a 2FP, U basically end up with a fixed power scope! Geez.
