One question. When I look through the scope backwards through the objective lense i can see 2 black specs on an internal lense in the middle of the scope. They are not visible at all when looking through the scope normally. I'm womdering if this could be part of the fiber optic illumination that I'm seeing. Is this normal or something I should be worried about?

Thump the objective on something like a phone book and see if you can get them to shake off the lenses. Often takes a pretty good whack

Don't really like the idea of black specs floating around in the scope.

Its actually pretty common. Typically anodizing that has just come loose. There is grease in the scope to try and catch it. I have had several scopes do this over the years. In all cases except one the phone book smack worked for me n

For another comparison it seems the glass on my meopta meopro 3.5-10x44 is slightlt better than the trijicon. Colors are more vibrant leading to better contrast. The trijicon seems to fall between the vxr and the meopro. Still haven't had any time to test un low light.

Was able to get one of the specs off. One still there. Doesn't seem to harm anything as it's not visible when viewing through the scope normally but could it be degrading image quality? Just did a side by side low light comparison with my 3-9 VXR Patrol and the trijicon beats it out pretty well so it's performing well.

This was Trijicons response..... Good morning and thank you for your inquiry. It is common to have some debris that is only visible through the objective and inside that optic; we have what is called grease pockets that after recoil it may go away and be stuck out of view. Regardless it should not affect the usability of the optic. If you start to see more or see any debris that causes issues through the eyepiece, please contact us to have it fixed. |
