Yard sale find was an almost new Stith scope mount complete. From some web crawling, it's designed to be mounted on top, not like some using the peep sight holes in the receiver side.
The front part that mounts on the front of the receiver and holds the spring loaded single ring, is unmarked except for "Stith Mounts" . The part that goes on top of it, on which the scope rests is marked "M2W". The rear mount which goes on the rear of the receiver is marked "M3R2". Both front and rear mounts have a large radius contour far larger than a typical bolt action receiver.

Can't find any info on the net to decode the markings. Anyone have a chart ?

Here is one installed to show how it works.

If I remember correctly they were called Stith Master Mounts and were popular in the 50’s & 60’s. I’m old and can’t remember more than that.
When you are dead, you don't know you are dead.It is difficult only for others.

It is the same when you are stupid.

Also old but have several sets.

Have persuaded B&L scopes to fit into these and makes a cool period rig on an older rifle. Just heat up the one ring and gently spread it to fit the scope in, put it in a padded vise and gently tighten it.

They have the same ability to switch scopes across guns with zero not affected but IMO are not as clunky as the B&L mounts.

For older Savage 99 owners they are the holy grail as a scope goes on with no new holes.

Kinda amazed that among all you "scope-a-philes", nobody has a Stith chart !
